Get to Know Some of Our Producers

Here are a handful of the many shipping partners who will add variety to our Boat Boxes this 2023 sail freight season!

Viking & Daughters Maple

Eric the Red was born & raised in NYC; after 37 years as a do or die New Yorker, working first as a bike messenger and then building and managing bars in Brooklyn, he felt a yearning to slow down and get his hands dirty the old fashioned way, in the ground. He and his wife purchased some land in Columbia County in 2016, built a house, and quickly began tapping trees and making maple syrup from the woods behind their house. Eric has since partnered with friends, new and old, to experiment with flavors and ideas and put his spin on the time-honored tradition. Besides Viking Maple, Eric and his wife, Marion, stay busy raising their twin daughters, volunteering with the Canaan NY Fire Department and running their HVAC Service and Draft Beverage System businesses; We Clean Heat Pumps & Viking Draft Co.

CurrantC

Greg Quinn and Carolyn Blackwood bought Walnut Grove Farm in 1999, located in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley. Quinn knew about currants from his restaurant days in Bavaria. Black Currants are very healthy, they contain the darkest pigmentation in nature. They’re packed with vitamin C, potassium, as well as iron, calcium, manganese, magnesium and best of all, the flavor is unique and absolutely delicious.

As congress had made growing currents illegal in New York, Quinn spent the next four years working to overturn this ban. In April 2003, he succeeded. CurrantC produces current concentrate, jams, syrups, tea, granola, raw fruit, and a variety of other delicious products.

Greenpoint Cidery

Inspired by farmhouse practices, natural wine, and the long history of apples in America, my ciders are made with traditional methods, local ingredients, and minimal intervention. Fermented from all New York apples, they are 100% dry, aged, unfiltered, and unfined. Each cider is hand made in small batches, and limited release experimental ciders are made with fruits, herbs, and flowers foraged from the surrounding land. Because it’s made by hand, each batch, and each bottle, is unique.

****CIDER is only available as a Boat Box add-on. Sign up for Greenpoint’s Cider Club to receive cider with your Boat Boxes this year.
